{"id":103778,"date":"2019-07-31T05:55:13","date_gmt":"2019-07-30T20:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=103778"},"modified":"2019-07-31T05:55:13","modified_gmt":"2019-07-30T20:55:13","slug":"m2o-prone-sup-foil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=103778","title":{"rendered":"M2O:  Prone, SUP, Foil?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-103779\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7288.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0just talked to Mao-san and got her side of the story. \u00a0everything was going really good half way to Oahu. \u00a0continuous paddling, lots of energy left, and enjoying the moment. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103780\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_8921-663x442.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"663\" height=\"442\" \/>\u00a0 \u00a0right after we heard about the 2 big sharks in the channel, Maki-san jumped in. \u00a0i was really proud of her because i know hundreds of my guy friends that would never do it. \u00a0this will make her stronger and much more calmer when she&#8217;s in the ocean. \u00a0this is mental training at its finest&#8230;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103782\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7304-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/> then as we got closer to Oahu, things change drastically. the winds started blowing 30mph straight off shore. \u00a0then the current started going backwards. \u00a0this is when Mao-san spent 2 hours on her last part which was only supposed to take 45min. \u00a0she was fighting and fighting, and never gave up. \u00a0it was so inspiring watching this happen&#8230;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103783\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_9047-663x442.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"663\" height=\"442\" \/>\u00a0then she the came into the bay and headed to the finish line. \u00a0she was advised to take that course by her coach Takuji-san. \u00a0and it turned out to be the winning way! \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103784\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_9075-663x442.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"663\" height=\"442\" \/>\u00a0i couldn&#8217;t believe she could even still walk after that??? \u00a0Mao-san rode a stock SUP board so it was big and bulky. \u00a0imagine paddling that against the wind and falling off 20 times??? \u00a0just getting back up on the board took lots of energy. \u00a0i couldn&#8217;t have done that.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-103781\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/IMG_7341-e1564473582856.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"481\" \/>we had a nice dinner and a nice talk. \u00a0Mao-san plans to go back to Okinawa and relax. \u00a0the first thing she wants to do is eat Okinawa Soba. \u00a0haha. \u00a0then she&#8217;s back to training in the ocean. \u00a0she plans to SUP next years race, and FOIL the next year after that. \u00a0what???
