\u00a0i carried Mateus in my arm, Noah was right behind, and my brother in the very last minute said &#8220;book me a ticket.&#8221; \u00a0so just like that, we went to experience something everybody in the world should experience. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103860\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7376.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"481\" \/>\u00a0it was my first time on the airplane with these kids. \u00a0the loved it! \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-103851\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7410.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0jumped into a rent a car and headed straight up to Mauna Kea. \u00a0we arrived at 11am which was right before 12 noon protocol. \u00a0this is when they pray, chant, dance hula, and worship the gods. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103857\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7397.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"481\" \/>\u00a0we went from hot summer to freezing cold and raining mountain. \u00a0Mateus was prepared for anything. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103852\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7407.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0it was very powerful walking up to the place i watch on the news everyday. \u00a0i&#8217;ve been following this very closely because i really care. \u00a0but it was nothing like the tv, it was more real, it was more deep, and it was way more emotional. \u00a0i could see and feel the tears of the people flowing&#8230;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103856\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7417.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0the prayers were all in Hawaiian. \u00a0i couldn&#8217;t understand, but i could feel the message. \u00a0and when they started dancing hula, it was something different. \u00a0i watched hula dances all my life, but this hula was real, tense, passionate, and very powerful. \u00a0i had chicken skin the whole time. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103853\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7419.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0then the most famous actor in the world pulls up, Jason Momoa. \u00a0he came with his family, kids, and friends to support Mauna Kea. \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103855\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7429.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0it was very emotional as he gave his offerings to the Kupuna. \u00a0it was stronger than any role he&#8217;s ever played in a movie, his tears were real&#8230; \u00a0i can tell you this because i was front row and could feel the vibe&#8230;\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-103854\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7428.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/>\u00a0his words were &#8220;i&#8217;m sorry it took me so long to come. \u00a0there&#8217;s one thing that&#8217;s not going to happen. \u00a0that telescope&#8217;s not being built here. \u00a0we ain&#8217;t leaving!&#8221; \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-103858\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_7402-e1564713178187.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/>at first, i was hesitant to take these kids to the Mauna, but after 10 seconds of thinking about it, i thought &#8220;these kids are Hawaiian and they have to see what&#8217;s going on. \u00a0they don&#8217;t have to be for or against it, they just have to see it for themselves. \u00a0this is a very historic moment for Hawaii and Hawaiians. \u00a0the outcome of this will shape the future for these kids and their generations that follow. \u00a0this is something you just can&#8217;t learn in school. \u00a0this is as real as it gets. \u00a0i felt like it was my responsibility as an Uncle to take them there. \u00a0and if my Mom ever finds out, she&#8217;ll kill me!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0i was planning to go to Mauna Kea alone, but i heard some kids playing outside my house and thought to myself &#8220;omg, i should take my Grand Nephews!!&#8221; \u00a0 so just like that, they jumped into my world of being spontaneous. \u00a0absolutely no planning, we just go to the Mauna!
