\"\"since we’re all on lockdown, we can’t go anywhere. \u00a0so going on this trip was huge for me. \u00a0i needed it more than anybody and i wanted it more than anybody. \u00a0but then again, i think Seth needed it more than me. \u00a0this kid has been traveling since he was 12 years old so being home in Hawaii during the Summer, this is probably his first. \u00a0so yeah, the WCT Tour is canceled, but he’s taking it really good and slow. \u00a0and if it weren’t for the lockdown, this kind of family experience couldn’t have happened. \u00a0so as Seth took a rest in the afternoon, i gave him his space. \u00a0then i noticed something strange…\"\"when he came back to the boat, he left his speargun hanging off the edge! \u00a0i’m surprised it didn’t fall over. \u00a0haha. \u00a0no wonder this kid looses so many things. \u00a0\"\"we dove all day long and was so tired. \u00a0so a beer at sunset tasted so good. \u00a0we had dinner, fished in the dark, watched the stars, and had an amazing conversation. \u00a0i decided not to text or check email on this trip and just give my 100% to the kids. \u00a0before dark, i told the kids to anchor the boat and make sure it’s not going to move. \u00a0i usually do it, but i trusted the kids on this one. \u00a0\"\"then in the middle of the night, something seemed wrong??? \u00a0the anchor rope cut and the boat was almost on the rocks!!! \u00a0so i turned on the flashlight and made the kids secure the anchor again. \u00a0so yeah, they had to dive down in the dark. \u00a0this is part of the learning process for them so i’m glad it happened when i was there. \u00a0after, i asked Joshua, “hey, what if this happened if you were only here with your girlfriend or something?” \u00a0he said “yeah, i was thinking about that.” \u00a0haha. \u00a0so yeah, i spent some time explaining to the kids how to secure a boat properly to prevent accidents like this. \u00a0we all learn this way…\"\"Joshua and Benji slept in the back gazing at the stars. \u00a0Seth and i slept in the cabin. \u00a0after kicking me all night long, and talking in his sleep, i just had to laugh. \u00a0i didn’t get a good sleep, but Seth sure did. and of course i woke up the earliest and was ready for another wonderful day!\"\"i woke up, watched the sunrise, watched the deer playing on the beach, and just enjoyed nature at its best. \u00a0i found this little cove that is protected from the wild sea. \u00a0it was my first time spending the night there and surely not my last. \u00a0so stoked to find this beautiful place!<\/p>\n

on the way home, i told the kids “hey, just keep watching and learning this stuff. \u00a0one day i hope you guys can do this without me here. \u00a0and when i die, keep the Mayuki legacy going. \u00a0take your friends, family, and loved ones to experience this memory of a lifetime.” \u00a0they were kind of speechless. \u00a0haha.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
