learning how to foil is similar to learning how to surf.  the mechanics are pretty much the same.  so after all these years of teaching people how to surf, i basically taught myself how to foil.  it took a while, but now that i figured it out, i think i can be a better teacher to both.  first, the basic things like looking forward and bending your knees are the exact same.  if you can\u2019t simply do that, you won\u2019t get to the next level.  second, your body movements are important.  the way your shoulders, hips, arms, and even hands shift are super important.  everything works with one another and if you can find that good flow, you will have good style.  if you can\u2019t, then things will look awkward.  third, equipment is important.  you have to ride equipment that will suit your style, and level of your surfing.  if you have the right equipment, then good things will happen fast.  if you don\u2019t, good things take a long time to happen.  the crazy thing is 80% of surfers i see are on the wrong equipment.  so yeah, get good advice from someone who knows what they\u2019re talking about.  don\u2019t just read a magazine or watch a video and get the same board your favorite surfer is riding.  it doesn\u2019t work that way.  and last, connecting is everything.  connect with your style, connect with your equipment, and connect with the ocean.  if you can do all of that, you will become the closest you can to BECOMING  ONE.   you don\u2019t have to be the best surfer to connect, but you will look and feel the best.  and when you look and feel the best, nothing else matters.   try to think about those 3 things and make it happen.  and if you need help, i\u2019m always here.  good luck and remember, NEVER GIVE UP!<\/span><\/p>\n
