there was a story on the news about surfing in Japan. \u00a0i was very interested because i have so many friends there. \u00a0they showed a normal day at one of the beach breaks in Shonan. \u00a0it’s actually not that crowded in this photo. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

i didn’t know that there were bodyboarders in Japan over a century ago. \u00a0look at her wooden board! \u00a0so cool!\"\"<\/p>\n

check out these cool surfers. \u00a0i wouldn’t want to drop in on a wave at their spot. \u00a0these guys are super fit! \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

back to Kugunama, Shonan. \u00a0this was the first spot i surfed when i went to Japan 30 years ago. \u00a0it was 20 minutes from my house so this is where i checked every single morning. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

in Japan, style is everything. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

so stoked to see people i know. \u00a0this is Hiroshi Fukuzawa who is a heavy local at one of the most regulated surf spots in Japan. \u00a0if i say the spots name, i would never be welcomed there again. \u00a0i’ve had my best waves of my life there surfing with this cool local. \u00a0he’s always been super nice to me from the beginning and i always respected him for that. \u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

when they came to this part of the story, i already knew where this was. \u00a0there is only one factory that is allowed to glass Wade Tokoro Surfboards. \u00a0and that’s the Soeda Factory in Hiratsuka. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

super good to see Tomohiro Soeda all grown up and running the business. \u00a0i knew this kid before he even started surfing. \u00a0he was still a baby.\"\"<\/p>\n

nowhere in the world has better quality surfboards than Japan. \u00a0they glass it to perfection. \u00a0quality is everything…\"\"<\/p>\n

then they showed Hiromichi Soeda. \u00a0nobody is more stoked than this guy when he surfs. \u00a0i just love watching him come out of barrels like this with the biggest smile ever. \u00a0by the way, this isn’t Japan so don’t surf there. \u00a0haha. \u00a0just joking…\"\"<\/p>\n
