another dawn patrol on the North shore this morning. \u00a0the swell were solid 6′ but it was missing Haleiwa. \u00a0so Haleiwa being so small, we decided to look around for a more challenging wave.\u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

i was with someone who wanted a challenge. \u00a0so i got out my 5’10 and thought, let’s challenge ourselves. \u00a0i didn’t tell him where we were paddling out to because i know he would be super nervous. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

the waves were solid 6′ and pretty crazy. \u00a0my shortboard was way too small but i knew i had to lead by example. if i couldn’t make the wave, he would have doubts. \u00a0so i had to focus pretty hard. \u00a0haha. \u00a0it was such a great feeling riding big waves again! \u00a0thank goodness i didn’t fall and break my board, or snap my 5′ skinny comp leash. \u00a0whew…\"\"<\/p>\n

right before we paddled in, i said “guess what? \u00a0we’re surfing right now at Avalanche.” \u00a0you should have saw his face! \u00a0he was super surprised. \u00a0haha. \u00a0Avalanche is well known as a crazy thick and powerful wave for big wave riders. \u00a0i couldn’t believe how perfect it was today! \u00a0we scored! \u00a0and now we have a newborn big wave rider! \u00a0“men who ride mountains.”<\/p>\n
