{"id":121847,"date":"2022-04-22T05:29:20","date_gmt":"2022-04-21T20:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=121847"},"modified":"2022-04-21T15:45:37","modified_gmt":"2022-04-21T06:45:37","slug":"dream-land-or-nightmare-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=121847","title":{"rendered":"Dream Land or Nightmare Land?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-97920\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirby\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_3397-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>30 years ago when i first went to Bali, Dreamland wasn&#8217;t born yet. \u00a0my friend Ganti took me there to surf and i remember driving down a dirt road, then hiking through bushes before reaching the dreamy white sandy beach. \u00a0it was the most beautiful untouched beach i&#8217;ve ever seen.<\/p>\n<p>but since then, Dreamland became one of the most popular beaches in Bali. \u00a0hundreds of surfers, hundreds of beach umbrellas, lots of shops, and thousands of people packed in there every day of the year. \u00a0BUT&#8230;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-97918\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirby\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_3393-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>the Pandemic changed everything. \u00a0as i was driving down the former luxury row of multimillion dollar condos and hotels, i was shocked. \u00a0empty buildings everywhere, nobody around, and the dream seemed to have disappeared.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-97921\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirby\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_3387-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>i get to the once popular beach and i didn&#8217;t see a single soul. \u00a0it was a ghost town! \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-97917\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirby\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_3389-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>it&#8217;s hard to believe that there was zero concrete and nobody here 30 years ago, and now there&#8217;s tons of concrete and zero people. \u00a0it was actually pretty sad seeing this.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-97916\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirby\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_3388-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>as i was leaving, i took a photo of the last time i&#8217;ll ever go to Dreamland. \u00a0it was almost too sad to think how it was, and how it is now. \u00a0once the best beach in Bali is now the worst.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-97919\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirby\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG_3395-800x600.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>diving out, i looked into the empty buildings and thought this beautiful area will probably never make a comeback. \u00a0is the Dream gone?
