After my beautiful morning surf, I had a pleasant drive out to the North shore. \u00a0Absolutely no traffic until I arrive on the North shore. \u00a0It came to a sudden stop and I thought, “ok, the Pipeline Pro is on so everybody is coming out to watch.” \u00a0Then as I pass Foodland, I see construction workers and cones on the road. \u00a0WHAT??? \u00a0OMG, they closed off a lane all day to do construction on the way to Pipeline during the Pipeline Pro? \u00a0I don’t like to use the word stupid, but that is totally stupid!!! \u00a0Construction adding to the spectators of one of the biggest contests in the world? \u00a0Honestly, I couldn’t believe it. \u00a0 \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

I arrive late to the Billabong house and nobody was there. \u00a0All the boys were already down at the beach getting ready for their heats. \u00a0I arrived just in time. \u00a0Whew…\"\"<\/p>\n

Not too many spectators this year. \u00a0I wonder why? \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

As I started making my way home, I saw a very long line of cars at a complete stop. \u00a0A lot of tourists and locals spending hours in traffic rather than on the beach. \u00a0Wouldn’t it be common sense to stop all construction when we have events like this? \u00a0Lucky I took my electric bike today because I would have missed everything…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
