In order to become a well rounded surfer, you have to be able to ride anything. \u00a0This morning, Seira-chan rode one of Seth Moniz’s high performance board which is only 24 liters. \u00a0It’s much more challenging to catch waves, but once you’re up, it surfs really well. \"\"<\/p>\n

It’s pretty impressive to be able to ride this board. \u00a0I tried it and couldn’t even paddle it. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

Seira-chan’s been averaging 3 turns per wave. \u00a0Total control from start to finish. \u00a0That’s what the judges want to see. \"\"<\/p>\n

Then we started having heats. \u00a0In Japan, the heats are 13 minutes so that’s what we practiced. \u00a0For that short amount of time, you can’t make any mistakes. \u00a0The girls were hassling each other and being very competitive. \u00a0It was pretty cool to judge.\"\"<\/p>\n

I was trying to explain strategy from a judges perspective. \u00a0It’s the judges that will make or break you. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n

The girls learned today that surfboard selection is very important. \u00a0Tomorrow we’ll be riding different boards and having more heats. \u00a0I’m hoping for good choice of equipment and good strategy. \u00a0\"\"<\/p>\n
