With the winds switching back around, we started off the day looking at Diamond Head. \u00a0After I observe the ocean and see the tide, swell direction, and conditions, it takes me 1 minute to decide where the best spot will be. \u00a0Sometimes it will be right there, and most other times it will be somewhere else. \u00a0![\"\"](\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_6005-800x600.jpg\")

The normal spots in town don’t work well with the West swell that is wrapping around from the North shore. \u00a0Everywhere is just weird. \u00a0There are only about 4 spots on the South Shore that like this kind of swell. \u00a0One of them is only accessible by boat so that’s where we went. \u00a0![\"\"](\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/IMG_6038-800x495.jpg\")

Round 1: \u00a0It was Nakahodo-san’s first time here at this secret spot and he absolutely loved it! \u00a0Nobody was out and nobody comes out as this spot is only good a few days out of the year. \u00a0And today was one of those few days. \u00a0The conditions were as good as it could ever get. \u00a0![\"\"](\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8-800x600.jpeg\")

Round 2: \u00a0We went to check Diamond Head this afternoon and as soon as I saw the West swell getting bigger, I knew exactly where to go. \u00a0We got there 50 minutes later and nobody was out. \u00a0Overhead and perfect! \u00a0![\"\"](\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/GPTempDownload-68-800x450.jpg\")
