good morning from okinawa. i woke up early to check the waves. flat! what? i guess the typhoon is taking longer than expected. kind of a bummer for me because i have to get back to hawaii. i guess this typhoon was never meant to be for me. but i’m sure my friends here will score perfect barrels and i’m stoked for them. got a long way back to hawaii and don’t know when to start. today or tomorrow i’ll be traveling my long journey back to hawaii. from paradise to paradise, i’m feeling great!

\nGold Medalist Tomoka just got back from france. it was so cool to hear her stories on how she won the gold medal and the whole experience. it was just 2 years ago when she strived for her dream and now she’s on top of the world. yeah, the best in her class in the whole world. 68 meters or 223′ is unbelievable. she also held her breath for over 6 minutes.

\ni have a whole new level of respect for this girl. it takes other competitors over 20 years of experience to accomplish something like this, but for this special girl, she’s done it in only 2. hopefully i can spend more time in okinawa next time because i just found my coach. i’m looking forward to the whole new world. and to Tomoka, i’m so proud of you. the dream you told me a long time ago came true. you’re on top of the world now and i wish you the best of luck in the next competition in the bahamas. 80 meters is right in your reach. ganbatte!

\nit was the first time for me to hold a gold medal. feel the power! i’ve never even dreamt that far to get one but now i’m thinking about it and that’s just a start. i learn from my friends that dreams do come true and Tomoka is just one example of that.
