omg, japan is freezing cold. yesterday was 11 degrees and this morning seems colder. so i wake up with snores from Inomata-san sleeping next to me. i jump in the shower and all of a sudden, Kimura-san’s house starts to shake. things falling over, my cell phone beeping a weird emergency siren, i start to worry. come to find out, it’s a 6M earthquake somewhere far away. is there a tsunami warning? hey, i’m staying right along the beach now. hopefully everything is ok as we will be jumping on a ferry this morning heading to shikoku. i left tokyo at 8am yesterday morning and got here at 7pm. that’s 11 hours of traveling by taxi, train, and 2 cars. now a ferry ride and drive, 4 hours later, i should be in shikoku.

\nNaohiro took us to a place where i haven’t been before. omg, this okomiyaki restaurant is the best! the question i have is, “after 15 years of coming to wakayama, why only now?” Ikora is by far the best i’ve ever tasted.

\nthe chef of course is a surfer. surfs in the day, and makes awesome food at night. what a great life!

\nof course after a long drive, a cold beer sure tastes good. well, i was sleeping the whole drive down. haha. thank you Inomata-san and Kosei-san for driving me comfortably here. kanpai!

\nsteamed bacon and bean sprouts then dipped into ponzu sauce. so good!

\nbutter garlic abalone. melts in your mouth.

\nwe ate 4 different kind of okonomiyaki but the natto one was my favorite.

\nthis group is a well talented group of people. most are successful owners of companies and very smart. the cool thing is that we all have one thing in common. we surf!

\nthen after getting so full on okonomiyaki and beers, we head straight to Seigo-san’s Marutaya ramen shop.

\nby far the best ramen i’ve ever eaten in my life.
