omg, what an awesome day with some awesome stories. all i have to say is that experiencing things in foreign counties is so fun. i wasn’t a big fan of mexico, but now i am. coming to find out that this might indeed be the best freediving location in the world!

\nbeen getting up every morning at 5:30am. look outside my room and this is what i see. a beautiful sunrise, our dive boats getting ready, and the island on the horizon where we will be spending the next 8 hours in the water.

\nand no, that is not a white spot on my camera lens. that is the full moon this morning. the golden sunrise on one end, and the full moon setting on the other. pure nature!

\nkyle and i are on the same team. the 2 of us speared 121 pounds or 55 kilos of fish today. if we caught fish like this everyday, we’d be millionaires. but no, the kids at the orphanage get to eat fresh fish for a while and that makes us very happy. we did blue water diving, to deep reef fishing. here is kyle at home in the deep blue waters of mexico.

\nthis fish is one of the hardest fish to spear. it hides in and out of caves deep down 50-70′ of water. you have to play hide and seek with it and once you spear it, you better it doesn’t suck your speargun into a cave because you will never get it back. that reef out there must claim about $10k\/year of spearfishing gear. guys are loosing things everyday out there.

\nbefore this trip, mike and eric didn’t spear a fish bigger than their frying pan. today, everything changed. they came across this marlin and speared it together. what an amazing father and son story.

\nafter the long day, our captains clean and cut up the fish. we keep a few fillets for sashimi, and the rest goes to the orphanage. everybody happy!
\ntomorrow is the last day of the tournament. hope to get some good sleep now and be fully alert tomorrow. i was almost falling asleep while free diving today. i’m super tired but completely at peace. good night from my little room sitting on top of the ocean front hill in mexico.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
