october to january are the months of the most unpredictable weather here in hawaii. it could be super sunny, it could storm, there could be lightning, and nobody knows what can happen. not even the weather forecasters get it right. mother nature at its best! for me, i love these days because it doesn’t affect what i want to do. whether it’s surfing or diving, we can still go!

\ntake this one day in november for example. it started off a wonderful morning as we went surfing. then i watched this dark cloud cover the sun. yeah, i knew the bad weather was coming, but it was so beautiful watching the transformation.

\nthen there it came. the storm! you couldn’t even see waikiki or diamond head. pouring rain in the ocean and felt like i was in a water park.

\nSatoko-san enjoying the free water park. the rain feels so good coming down on you as you ride waves. it’s like the sky crying.

\na lot of people paddle in when it starts raining. i stay out and enjoy it. do you know why?

\nbecause i know that once the storm passes, there will be an amazing rainbow to follow. it happens all the time!
