\ni’ve been helping a family member with planning out the rest of her life. from real estate, to bank accounts, to insurance, to bill payments, to funeral services. it’s a lot of work, but also a great learning experience for me. i know it costs a lot to live in hawaii, but i didn’t realize how much it costs to die. crazy!

\ni’m 4th generation japanese american. nikkei yonsei to be exact. i went to visit my great grandparents gravesite and realized how much i didn’t know about them. Nobuhiko and Nobu Fukunaga both came from Kumamoto and lived their lives here in hawaii. times were tough, but they stuck it out and if it wasn’t for them, i wouldn’t be here today. so i really appreciate the great grandparents i’ve never met.

\ni took some flowers for my grandma. Her name was Toshiko Fukunaga and is 2nd generation japanese american. visiting her often brings me strength. i can still feel the love she has given me till this day. each time i visit her, i start off with a tear, and end with a smile. miss you grandma.

\ni don’t eat pasta too often but this sausage pasta tasted pretty good. $7.95 with the best view on the island. here i don’t mind eating alone.

\nahi fever continues… haha. i’m like a mad scientist researching and developing. someday i will catch something big, and someday i will quit. i just don’t know which will come first.

\nhad a great meeting with Orikasa-san. a very smart man that runs plus hawaii and has been supporting go-naminori for years now.

\ni’ve been eating so much katsuo tataki recently that i needed something different.

\naku poke over yama imo over hot rice. the perfect healthy lunch!

\nthe waves were perfect again yesterday afternoon. had an awesome surf session with a friend. she was surfing so amazing! good rides and good smiles.
