{"id":52444,"date":"2015-01-16T13:21:57","date_gmt":"2015-01-16T04:21:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=52444"},"modified":"2015-01-16T13:21:57","modified_gmt":"2015-01-16T04:21:57","slug":"long-to-short-in-1-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=52444","title":{"rendered":"Long to Short in 1 day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>i was really amazed on Konishi-san&#8217;s ability to learn.  her goal was to short board in hawaii so that became my goal too.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.20.49-PM.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.20.49-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-01-12 at 4.20.49 PM\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52441\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nbefore i teach someone how to short board, they must be able to long board.  if you can&#8217;t long board, you can&#8217;t short board.  long boarding is easier to learn the basics and once you got that, short boarding is very easy.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.20.27-PM.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.20.27-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-01-12 at 4.20.27 PM\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52438\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nwe went over and over on looking forward and keeping your knees bent.  if you don&#8217;t do either or both, you will fall.  pretty simple to teach, but very hard to follow because it&#8217;s a natural habit to look down at your feet.  once you overcome that, you will improve very fast.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.24.43-PM.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.24.43-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-01-12 at 4.24.43 PM\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52439\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nby that afternoon, it was time to test out Konishi-san on a short board.  from her first wave, she did awesome!  she just kept on getting better and better after each wave.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.23.57-PM.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.23.57-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-01-12 at 4.23.57 PM\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52440\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nthen i taught her how to do &#8220;ups and downs&#8221; and even a cutback.  by the end of the day, Konishi-san was surfing super good on a short board.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.28.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-shot-2015-01-12-at-4.28.jpg\" alt=\"Screen shot 2015-01-12 at 4.28\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52442\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nit feels good to improve.  it takes some people years and years to get from a long board to a short board.  but Konishi-san did it in 1 day.  good girl!
