OMG, i just found this email in my folder! a message from Tsubasa-san! Tsubasa-san is a local surfer from kita-izumi surf point in fukushima. that was the first beach we went to right after the tsunami. it was totally demolished and to make things worst, it’s located right at the 20km off limits mark from the fukushima nuclear plant. i remember our We Are One team standing on the wall looking around in total shock. being surfers who surfed there before, words couldn’t explain our feelings at that time. we passed by there mission after mission and seen the progress. the debris were clearing, the grass was growing, and things were looking bright. Tsubasa-san came to hawaii last year. it was at that time, i gave him a donation from our We Are One project. i remember telling him to go get the guys together and have a barbecue. to do something that would bring smiles to our circle of surfing friends. instead, they used the money for something else.

\nthey bought a weed wacker with it. such awesome hearts.

\ni was so happy to see the green coming back! and i’m so happy to see local surfers taking the time to put back into the surf spot that has gave them so many great memories.

\nsuch a great effort from the fukushima kita-izumi surfing community. you guys are amazing! i hope to surf with you all someday soon!

\nthis was last year when Tsubasa-san came to hawaii. i still remember the great waves we caught together!

\nfukushima surfing is back up and running. i’m really looking forward to meeting all of you someday. great job for your great community.
\nhere is the message i got from Tsubasa-san. i thought i’d share it because our We Are One team and supporters should know the good things they’ve done for the wonderful people of fukushima. let’s continue to support our friend forever! and thank you Tsubasa-san for the wonderful news! We Are One!
