we met this fisherman who told us his story on what happened on march
\n11, 2011.
\nthe earthquake hits, and like all fisherman who have their own boats,
\nthey all run to their boats and speed out to sea to protect it from the
\npredicted 1 meter (3′) tsunami that was about to come. little did this
\nfisherman know that the tsunami that actually hit was 20 meters (60′)
\nhigh. he returned 2 days later to find his house, wife, and son
\nmissing. these are his 2 daughters that still think mommy and brother
\nwill be coming home as their bodies still have yet to be found. i’ve
\nseen some sad faces in my life but nothing as sad as i seen on these two
\nlittle girls faces. i couldn’t look at them in the eyes because i would
\nhave broke down in tears. the father is strong and will treasure these
\ntwo girls for the rest of his life. tshirts from hawaii, fresh cookies
\nfrom hawaii, and somebody from hawaii passing it out to these little
\ngirls meant a lot to the father. he kept on saying to me “thank you for
\ncoming.” what is a man like myself supposed to say back? i’m still
\nlost for words. and my heart is still aching for these two little
\ngirls. i hope next time i have the courage to put a smile on their faces.
\ni want to thank everybody in hawaii again for donating time, money, and
\nsupplies. this is where it’s going, and this is what we do. you are
\nall doing a great thing. after this is all done, i think i have to
\ncheck myself into a mental hospital and have somebody help me get all
\nthese emotions off my mind. it’s hard to come back to a warm house with
\nwarm food and think about the people suffering and waiting for loved
\nones to come back. please keep on supporting japan.<\/p>\n
