{"id":67341,"date":"2016-05-10T13:48:41","date_gmt":"2016-05-10T04:48:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=67341"},"modified":"2016-05-10T13:48:41","modified_gmt":"2016-05-10T04:48:41","slug":"ala-moana-dark-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/?p=67341","title":{"rendered":"Ala Moana Dark Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>log in another 6 hours of surfing today.  waves absolutely perfect again!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-10-at-1.11.35-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 1.11.35 PM\" width=\"640\" height=\"384\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67347\" \/><br \/>\ntook out Mai-san for day 2.  i didn&#8217;t want to tell her but the waves were actually bigger than what we surfed yesterday.  i knew she would be scared before we even paddled out so i told her it was knee high.  haha.  but it was still overhead and pretty big. after her nerves calmed down, she started surfing perfectly.  i explained over and over that panicking won&#8217;t do you any good.  it actually makes the situation worst because your body freezes up.  so after a few panic attacks, she shook it off and surfed with confidence.  almost getting barreled on this wave.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-10-at-1.14.12-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 1.14.12 PM\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67345\" \/><br \/>\nwhen a big wave comes, i tell everyone to throw their board and dive under.  it&#8217;s just way easier, but kind of freaky to do it for the first time.  this is how dark it gets under a huge wave breaking over your head.  i call it &#8220;the dark room.&#8221;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-10-at-1.12.34-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 1.12.34 PM\" width=\"640\" height=\"378\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67344\" \/><br \/>\nseen my little friend all over today.  kept on popping up all around us.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-10-at-1.15.30-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 1.15.30 PM\" width=\"640\" height=\"380\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67343\" \/><br \/>\ntowards the end of the session, Mai-san was surfing with a big smile on her face.  today was a big obstacle she overcame in fear.  i told her after today, surfing big waves will be a lot easier now.  just don&#8217;t forget to have confidence in yourself.  you can do anything!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Screen-Shot-2016-05-10-at-1.12.56-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2016-05-10 at 1.12.56 PM\" width=\"640\" height=\"385\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67342\" \/><br \/>\nif you survive surfing big waves like this for the first time, you become a stronger person.  it&#8217;s that simple.  thank you Mai-san for never giving up.  well, you almost did but i wouldn&#8217;t let you because i knew you could do it.  haha.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_9381.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_9381\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67357\" \/><br \/>\nalways good to have your first acai bowl in hawaii.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_9389.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_9389\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67359\" \/><br \/>\ni ordered the hot pastrami sandwich.  i just love the food at the Diamond Head Health Bar.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_9391.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_9391\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-67354\" \/><br \/>\nthen went to check out the waves at diamond head.  it was so beautiful!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/go-naminori.com\/kirbyfukunaga\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/IMG_9392.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_9392\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" class=\"align none size-full wp-image-67361\" \/><br \/>\nwaves everywhere!<br \/>\nthen went to pick up Takashi-san for an afternoon super session.  big waves rolling through and lots of waves ridden.  i think i&#8217;ll sleep at 7pm tonight.  good night. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>log in another 6 hours of surfing today. waves absolutely perfect again!
