\nwhen new philippine president Dutarte took office on june 30th, he pledged to make the streets safe by killing drug dealers. since then, over 500 people have been killed, 3,600 have been arrested, and 120,000 turned themselves in. crime already dropped 13%. seems to be working.

\nand the prisons have been overloaded. but the inmates are actually happy to be alive. later this month, i’m planning to chase a typhoon and maybe end up in the philippines. i always felt safe there, but i feel much safer this time.
