had a great afternoon yesterday with Mai-chan. this girls been practicing almost everyday and it’s showing in her surfing. nice cross step!

i tried another angle when i took this photo and i’m pretty happy with the result. feels like i’m riding the same line with Mai-chan. in fact, i was. haha.

such a sweet happy girl after a sweet long ride.

i don’t like when people get happier than me so i simply flip them off the board. haha. just joking.

Mai-chan told me this wave felt like a jet coaster! haha.

then i put her on the shortboard. nice!

we have deep conversations about life. this girl is trying to live her dream and i’m just trying to support it. but sometimes, it could be hard for a girl to move to Hawaii all alone and chase her dreams. it gets lonely, you get homesick, it gets frustrating, and sometimes you feel like giving up. i was in the same exact place when i was Man-chan’s age when i went to Japan. i could see the tears coming so i turned on my camera and said “yeah, cry in front of the camera, i want to see it!”

then she stopped and everything was all right. i know Mai-chan can do it. she is strong and has her families support. she also has mine and i will never let this girl give up on her dreams. never!
