it’s pretty rare for everyones schedule to work out. but this time, it did. the Kawamae’s just happened to be staying near Kansai Airport. so we all met there, jumped into the big van, and headed to Wakayama for a fabulous night. and of course, Wakayama’s best guide Kimura-san was with us.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

headed to En for some authentic fresh Japanese food and lovely smiles.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

the boys haven’t tried whale sashimi before so that was the first thing we ordered. it’s part of Japanese culture to eat whale so if you come here, you should experience it.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

and the creamy milky sharako. this is my favorite!
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

i watched the master grab an alive Ishidai out of the tank, then watched him cut it up perfectly. this is how i learn how to do things like this. just by watching the masters.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

then comes the cold draft beers. then our wild and crazy night officially kicks off!
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

fresh raw Yamari Shirasu made sushi style. delicious!!!
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

and our beautiful sashimi platter. the whale turned out to be everyones favorite. we enjoyed some good food, good drinks, and good laughs.
\n\"\"<\/p>\n

then it was off to the piano jazz bar. this bar is amazing! live music, sing alongs, Jack Daniels, magic tricks, and wonderful friends. since i woke up at 2:30am, i was pretty sleepy. ended up falling asleep sitting in my chair listening to the soothing music. a happy ending to a very long day.

i was actually planning to go snowboarding in Hokkaido but canceled it last minute. a big storm coming in the next few days and don’t want to be stuck in the mountains. the boys are up there surfing the powder right now.
