350 Yen to $1USD

When you surf with your friends, it’s always good to share the waves.  We call it “splitting the peak.”  That means paddle for the same wave, one goes left, and the other goes right.  It takes wave knowledge and good communication to do it.  Everybody goes home happy.

This morning was still fun.  No wind so very calm conditions.  Mighty Mouse enjoying her 5’10.

I would say that this is the end goal.  To be able to paddle into a wave on your own, ride a professional surfers high performance short board, and surf it well.

Mayuki has been broken for 3 weeks.  Today I spent a few hours trying to fix it and I think I finally figured it out!  Next is to give it a test ride and if everything goes well, it’s back to fishing, diving, and surfing trips.

Check out this photo of my Grandpa and Grandma back in the 1950’s or so?  Look at that United airplane!  OMG, how did those weird shapes even fly???

My Grandpa use to take my Grandma to Japan very often.  Is this Mt. Fuji?  That’s so cool!

April 17, 2025 Hawaii Surf Report

Yesterday morning once more:  Sunrise.

Yesterday afternoon once more:  Beauty.

Good morning 3:30am.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head chest high and good.
Light winds so good morning conditions.
Cloudy and rain.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Go Home Happy!

Round 1:  We paddled out really early this morning.  It was another golden moment.

Ito-san’s first surf session in Hawaii!  Look how stoked he is!  Surfing with guys that are so happy is a treat.  This is what surfing is all about!

A very happy surfer today!

Ito-san told me he wanted to connect with surfing again and I think he just did that.  Wave after wave and smile after smile.

Mighty Mouse working on her short board techniques.

I was craving a Zippy’s burrito with chili so I had to get one for lunch.  This is my happy food because I use to eat this every late night in college.

Round 2:  We surfed somewhere different again.  Just drove around, looked for a spot where nobody was out, and paddled into fun waves like this.

The waves were a lot better than we expected.  We were doing 4 turns on each wave.  We all went home happy today!

After 2 rounds, you’re pretty content.  Good day, and good night!
