ハワイ州の開発計画の一部にアラワイのヨットハーバーのパーキングをプライベート化するプランがある。この計画にはサーファーやパドラーや他多くの人たちが楽しんでいるサーフスポット、ボウルズ、カイザーズ、ロックパイルスなどにアクセスするためのパーキングも含まれている。今やワイキキでは無料パーキングがどんどん無くなっているこの状況の中でこのパーキングが有料になってしまうと今まで海を毎日ここで海をエンジョイしていた人たちはどうすればいいのだろう。
この計画に反対する人たちの反対運動が明日の土曜日行われるので是非みんなでこのワイキキの無料パーキングを守ろう！

Join our Saturday Protest
Join Surfrider, Common Ground Hawaii, and others in protesting the State’s plan to add pay parking at Bowls.
DLNR is moving forward with plans to privatize parking at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor. This plan includes gated pay parking, with no guarantee of an affordable parking rate. This is the area where surfers, paddlers and other recreational ocean users park to access the ocean and some world class surf spots including Bowls, Kaisers, and Threes.
The refurbishing of the Hilton’s Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon (just completed) will be attracting even more people who will be looking for parking, yet DLNR is planning to decrease the amount of free parking. Parking equals access in Waikiki, and this is one of the last free parking areas that local folks can use that will allow ocean access with lots of gear (such as boards, kayaks, scuba gear, etc.)
We feel the state is obligated to improve ocean access (increase the amount of free parking), especially in light of the added attraction to the area. Please join us in making our voices heard.
