MR x The Dove

Remembering back a year ago when a boat filled with inexperienced divers tried to go out on a stormy day.  The waves flipped their boat over and there was panic.  Then the lifeguards came and their rescue ski flipped over too.  The ocean can be very unpredictable and doesn’t care who you are.  So if you enter it on a stormy day, you better be with an experienced person.

I’d never imagine feeling safe diving with my nephews.  I use to be the Uncle watching over them in the ocean, and now they are the ones watching over me.  I’m down deep hunting for fish as one of the boys are closely watching my every move.  If something happens, I know they will come and get me.  I use to tell them if I’m too deep and they can’t reach me, go as deep as you can and spear me in my leg and pull me up.  They use to laugh but now they know I’m serious.

Whenever I visit the Dove Factory in Japan, I walk around in awe.  There is so much history in the 50 years of Dove.  Surf champions, surf legends, and your everyday surfer all came across Dove at some point in their life.  Here is a Dove Advertisement of 4x World Champion Mark Richards back in 1978.  How cool is that!!!

The Left of your Life!

Round 1:  Good to see Nakagami-san surfing so calm today.  Smiling on every wave and looking pretty happy.

Another day of perfect conditions.  Good surfboard selection and easy rides.

Right after this wave, we paddled over to the lefts at Bowls.  Nakagami-san caught 2 set waves and riding the lefts all the way to the end.  He’s always a happy guy, but today he was extremely happy!  Those 2 waves at Bowls lefts were the 2 best waves of his life!

OMG, look at all the surfers on this beautiful Sunday at Bowls.

Round 2:  Noda-san’s first surf in Hawaii.  He’s been surfing for 20 years and is a goofy footer so he wanted to go left.  So we went to Bowls left and scored!

I was riding from behind trying to catch up to him but couldn’t.  He was going so fast!

I let him borrow my Josh Moniz high performance shortboard and he was ripping on it.

Noda-san also caught the 2 best waves of his life too.  Yes, if you surf Ala Moana Bowls and luckily can get a set wave, it could be the best wave of your life too.  And if you can get 2 in the same session, it could possibly be the best 2 waves of your life.  Score!
