August 19, 2026 Hawaii Surf Report

Yesterday once more:  The Mighty Mouse off the lip from behind.

Going higher and higher everyday.

Good morning 3:10am.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head chest high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sunny and warm.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

The Great White Summer is Back!

Round 1:  A great time with Ishida-san.  She caught the biggest and longest waves of her life this morning.

And also did her first cross step.  Excellent surfing!

Mighty Mouse on the 5’11 surfing very smooth.

Riding a different surfboard everyday is making her smarter and faster.

Rocky on the JM pro model and loving the flow.

Round 2:  The girls on their Great White twin fins testing it out at Waikiki.  The water was clean and Hawaii is back to normal.

Mighty Mouse loving the feel of the 5’7 high performance twin fin.

Nice bottom turn with rail fully engaged.  So fast!

Rocky with the 5’11 Great White attacking every wave with speed.

Fast off the bottom with the right hand drag.

Very good technical surfing.  And nice Dove long sleeve rash guard with hood and visor.  Perfect for the hot summer sun!

A brand new magic board will change your life…

Bye bye hurricane and hello again summer.  The best summer ever continues…

Layback is Back

When I was a teenager, there was no such thing as grabbing your rail in the barrel.  Nobody invented it yet.  So we would do this “layback” where you lay your body back into the wave and watch the lip go over your head while in the barrel.  It’s pretty hard to do but so far, I’ve got some of my best backside barrels of the summer doing the “layback.”  This is in the Big Bowl with photo taken by Neal Miyake…
