Next Asian Santa?

We surfed 5x and Miho-san caught around 20 waves per session.  That means she rode 100 waves in 4 days!

Endless waves here in Hawaii continue!

After scoring some really fun waves this morning, I went to do a maintenance check on Mayuki.  My anchor has been really good to me all these years.  I’ve anchored in storms, big waves, surges, currents, high winds, and crazy conditions all over the island.  So when I saw this today, I was shocked!  The chain holding on my anchor on was about to snap anytime now!  OMG, that could have been disastrous as so many things could have gone really bad!

There are plans for a bridge crossing Kakaako to Ala Moana Beach Park that has been in the making for years now.  It must have been 3 years and it’s still not completed?  Every time I pass, there is traffic so I look at the progress.  I see 3-5 guys working on this crossing each day I pass.  Two guys pouring concrete, one guy drinking coffee, and 2 guys on their phones.  None of my Japanese friends believe it’s taking this long because in Japan, they make crossings like this in one week.

Traffic every day here and who knows when it will be completed.  A private company can build a 40 story luxury building in 2 years and it takes more time than that for our government to build a pedestrian crossing???

I went to Home Depot today and thought something was weird.  It’s the first time I saw both a black and white Santa Claus.  All my life, I thought Santa was white?   Probably due to this crazy world we live in, who knows what other kinds of Santa will be out next year.  What about an Asian Santa?

October 16, 2024 Hawaii Surf Report

Welcome to the Eastside!

Good morning 4:20am.
North shore 4-6′ from the North. Sunset Beach and Laniakea good.
Ala Moana waist high and good.
Diamond Head chest high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 20mph.
Sun, showers, and rainbows.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Rainbow, Smile, and Kualoa.

it was Miho-san’s first dawn patrol experience.  Paddling out star gazing and enjoying the most peaceful moment ever.  She caught 2 waves in the total dark and all I could see when she paddled out was her big smile.

I rode behind a few after and this is what it looked like.  Total beauty!

Doing a bottom turn heading straight towards Diamond Head and the rising sun. Pretty cool.

Clarence, Jerome, Kyle, Malcom, Kawika, and Tommy.  That was the local morning crew.  All happy surfers enjoying the surf, stories, and jokes.

This was our last wave and all I was focused on was getting the photo, smile, and the rainbow.  Success!

We took a drive out to the rainy East side as the sun started to shine.  It doesn’t get greener than this.

Miho-san wanted to see Chinaman’s Hat.  Sometimes I forget how beautiful Hawaii is.  I love this place…
