good morning. 7am on another cloudy windy small surf day. beginning to sound like a broken record. waves on the north shore and south shore are smaller than yesterday. nobody out at pipe, one guy out at lani’s, nobody out at rockpiles, nobody out at the park, and one guy out at bowls. that’s says it all. shitty surf around the island. it’s raining outside now, the trades are blowing at 30mph, and it’s going to be the same for the next few days. so all you surfers, try to have a nice day….
there is a huge problem in countries like the philippines and indonesia. killing fish by explosives, noxious or poisonous substance, and or electricity is common. more common in the philippines but seen at other places in the world. coming from hawaii, i can’t even comprehend what the hell people are thinking. what about the future??? diving in the philippines is pretty depressing. no fish, polluted water, or blown up coral reefs. i’ve seen it all with my own eyes. it’s pretty sad because how are the next generations going to live? the government is getting strict but there still is a lot more to be done. i’ve been on the boat in secluded islands of the philippines and heard and seen the local fisherman blowing up the reefs and collect all the dead fish. so when i seen this sign in one of the local fish markets, it made me happy. happy that finally some of the government and people are figuring out that this type of fishing is wrong…. totally wrong….
try to walk into a fish market in japan, hawaii, tahiti, maldives, or australia. it’s loaded with fish of all sorts. then try to walk into a fish market in the philippines, this is what you’ll see. all small fish. i’ve seen uhu’s the size of peanuts in some fish markets. sad…. i hope things change very soon or there will be nothing left….
*congrats to naohisa ogawa for winning the japan mens division and Kiron Jaour fodr winning the junior mens division yesterday at the haleiwa international open….
Bombing, poisoning or killing fish by electricity….

China Air Surfboard Charge….
good morning. 8am here on wednesday morning. just got back from the airport. bol went back to bali, shun and ryota went back to japan. i wish i could have jumped on a plane and went somewhere too…. as for the waves, north shore came up a little. looks 2-4′ at pipe with 20 guys out. still kind of bumpy due to these winds but surfable. town has some small waist high wind swell waves. a few guys out at bowls and looking pretty fun. it looks like it’s going to be a nice day… get out there and enjoy…
we had a christmas barbecue at my house last night. this is bol, shun, ryota, and matchi. i ate too much and still smell like a barbecue….
this mango salsa is the bomb. they sell it at costco and let me tell you, it taste pretty dam good….
along with some chips, it’s all good….
this is a sign i saw at the airport this morning. doesn’t make sense. every airlines is different. the boys left on china air and paid $42 for their first board, and $84 for the second. so one board bag with 2 boards in cost them $126 each. i guess it’s better than the $600 they paid from japan to hawaii…..
