WOW! what an awesome surf day with Takae-san! we surfed solid 3 rounds and the waves were perfect all day long! first round was at bowls this morning, second round was at tiger point, and third round, bowls again. just catching so many good waves and having so much fun! when we paddled out to tiger point, Takae-san asked me “are there any sharks here?” i told him what i tell everybody “sharks can swim so there are sharks everywhere if there is ocean.” but tiger point just has bigger ones. haha. we had a blast!

then we ate lunch in manoa at Andy’s. it’s tuesday so the mushroom chicken special was the choice.

where else on the island can you get a plate lunch for $5.95? nowhere.

then we went to surf bowls this afternoon and it was even better than the morning. bigger, cleaner, and less crowded. we scored again!

Takae-san is such a nice guy and a great surfer. always smiling and always stoked! thank you Takae-san for a wonderful full day of surf and fun. hope you enjoy the rest of your trip and when you get back to japan, please tell Ushikoshi-san at U4Surf i said “aloha!” keep on surfing!

another great surfing day yesterday! surfing with father and son is the coolest thing. a solid bond that will last forever. meet Yagi-san and Yuto-kun. Yagi-san came to Hawaii 2 years ago and we surfed for his first time. this time, he brought his cute 9 years old son to enjoy the ride.

this kids was so stoked as he caught his first wave! Yuto-kun just jumped up and rode it perfectly. then, we fell!

if i take a kid surfing and we fall, there is no way in the world i’m letting go of him.

the trick is to keep his head up above water and make sure he doesn’t panic. then when you come up, just laugh. then usually they laugh too.

then when they realize they surfed for the first time, nothing can beat that feeling. look at the smile in this kids face!!! omg, so pure and so cute!

we rode so many waves together and had so much fun. then i asked Yuto-kun if he wanted to surf by himself. he said “yes!”

next wave, he just rode it perfectly! amazing courage and amazing balance.

then the board caught a rail, he jumped off, and the board hit me in the ankle. ouch!

surfing brings out the biggest smiles in anyone. and i was just as happy as him.

Yagi-san caught so many good waves too. it couldn’t have been a better day.
