day 2 this morning and having so much fun! Aihara-san surfing super good!

after 10 years, Aihara-san learned how to bottom turn, cutback, and even do a off the lip in just 2 days. i couldn’t believe when i seen him do his first off the lip and make it. you should have seen his happy face. he was so stoked!

and i’m enjoying the stoke too. spending 6 hours/day in the ocean and riding so many good waves. i just love it!

great job Aihara-san. welcome to the new world of progressive surfing. please remember everything you learned.

gosh, the best shave ice in the world!

i ordered my favorite root beer shave ice. i let Aihara-san try it and he almost threw up. haha. i don’t know where root beer originated from, but it has a unique taste. you will ever love it, or hate it. nothing in between.

next time you order a shave ice, try it. and please tell me how you like it. i have yet to meet a japanese person that likes it. haha.

Matsui-san on a super good wave yesterday afternoon. we had our little spot to ourselves. coming from one of the most crowded spots in the world “kugunuma,” he couldn’t believe how uncrowded it was. it was a very lucky thursday afternoon. such a beautiful wave!

Matsui-san rode so many good waves. just fine tuning his surfing and watched him do a cutback for his first time. more big smiles!
