another day, another decision. i pick up Asayama-san and ask him what he wanted to do today. within a second, he replied, “free diving.” wow! another awesome choice!
i remember taking Asayama-san free diving for the very first time. he didn’t even know how to use a mask and snorkel. he couldn’t dive even dive down a foot. and he looked very scared, especially when we saw that tiger shark. but now, this is a very confident man at 70 years old. he could probably go back to Japan and become a very successful Amasan. haha…
free diving is absolutely the best therapy. good for the body, mind, and soul. there is nothing else in the world where you will be so connected to nature. so after the past 2 weeks of surfing, surfing, and surfing, i think we both needed this…
sometimes i forget how old Asayama-san is. i’m in awe as i watch this man hunting in the wild.
and when he sees a fish, he stalks it like a lion hunting a deer.
and if you seen how long he can hold his breath, you would freak out!
hanging on the the reef and not coming back up for air until he gets the kill.
there is no other 70 year old man in the world that can surf and hunt as good as Asayama-san. i can guarantee that…
good job Aquaman!
as for me, i went out today looking for dinner. and specifically, a prized Kumu. so when i was waiting patiently down 40′, my heart started to pump when this big guy swam by me. i heard a Asayama-san kind of voice saying “keep calm.” haha. my heart beat went back down and i took the head shot. a prized dinner for two…
it’s been so long since i went spearfishing. so want to thank Asayama-san for making the best choice for today. the conditions couldn’t have been any better…
then straight to Chinatown for a nice lunch… another amazing day with a very amazing man…
