i paddled out to Bowls at 5am this morning. it was pitch dark and there was nobody out. then in 45 minutes, there were 50 guys out. this is one of the only parking lots open because all the other ones are closed. so expect record crowds back at Bowls again. i left the parking lot at 6:30am and it was full!
then i went for my 2nd round at 1pm. i counted 60 surfers out! i can’t believe how many surfers there are. i heard again from a few guys that Hawaii will go back into lockdown next week. and by the look at this, i won’t be surprised if the ocean is closed too. there is absolutely no social distancing in the water. and as for opening Hawaii back up for tourists on September 1st? you can probably forget it because that won’t happen. so yes, my longest vacation in my life continues…
