Seth Moniz On Hawaiian Heritage

193

when Seth was a kid and use to sleep over at my house, he knew that we’re waking up at 5am no matter what.  and he knew that we’re going surfing no matter what.  little did he know, i was prepping him for the world tour.  haha.  i use to teach him to always be on time, especially with me.  if you’re one minute late, i’m already gone.  if you’re late for your heat in a contest, nobody’s waiting for you.  so being on time is very important as a professional surfer.  and it’s also very important for everything else in life…

now lets talk about his other half which is the Hawaiian culture.  Seth is very proud to be Hawaiian, and he’s very proud to be the only native Hawaiian in the Top 32 in the world.  Surfline just came out with an article about Seth’s roots, his culture, and his legacy.  he mentions about family in Molokai, Uncles, The Duke, family, and Hawaii.  one thing he said really stuck out was this phrase “I just try and never forget where I actually come from and who my family is and what my heritage is. I think that’s pretty important.”  that made me really happy because although he’s on the top of the world right now, he’s still grounded and very humble.  these young positive role models is what this world needs now.  good job Seth…
