i found this old photo of Mateus when he was a baby. a baby that always loved the smell of sweet flowers. and now a big boy that still loves the smell of flowers. maybe that’s why he’s so sweet…if you ever went to the University of Hawaii, you will see a huge mural on the wall near the bookstore. it’s been there even before i attended college there so that’s over 30 years ago. if you read the recent article about Seth Moniz, he was talking about his roots in Molokai. this is Seth’s Great-Grandma working in the taro patches. Grandma Naki is from Molokai and was very respected. the Naki Family on Molokai are very kind, generous, and very Hawaiian. lot’s of aloha and lots of knowledge. gosh, i can’t wait to go back there! Toda-san sent me a video of Azumi-san foiling in Ishinomaki. i was watching it and was so happy to see him flying like a bird. Azumi-san got so good!when that good ride ended, i saw Azumi-san raise his hands in joy. and when a surfer raises his hands after a ride, that’s the ultimate feeling in the world. i had tears in my eyes because i know how happy he must be. it’s the best feeling in the world!!!
