because of the coronavirus rules, we can’t go down to Pipeline to watch the contest. so after my foil session at Bowls this morning, i watched the contest all day long focusing on one competitor. that competitors name was Joshua Moniz…
i watched every heat he surfed and he surfed if flawlessly. he was connected, he was smart, he was confident, and most importantly, he was calm. Joshua was making barrel after barrel throwing up the biggest scores of the day. i was screaming!!!the Pipeline Invitational consists of 32 of the best Pipeline surfers in the world. to most people, this is one of the hardest contest in the because every contestant is hungry, smart, and knows how to win. if you end up 1st or 2nd place, you will get a spot in the WCT Pipeline Masters! that’s double the satisfaction…Joshua was unstoppable. in the final, he got two 9.6’s and won the event pretty impressively. and it wasn’t normal Pipe, it was huge, crazy, tricky, and dangerous. so winning today is a huge accomplishment for any surfer…since Joshua won, he will be surfing against Gabriel Mendina in the 1st round tomorrow. the waves should still be good so stay tuned. if anyone in the world deserved this, it’s Josh. now he joins Seth so i’m hoping they meet up in the final. i dream big…
as for the Roxy Pro in Maui, it got cancelled this morning because of a shark attack before the contest. hope the local surfer survives, and hope the WSL makes the right decision on how to complete the women’s competition…
