when you go fishing, you look for birds. that usually means they are following or feeding off fish below. so birds are a really good sign. we saw a few bird piles. hundreds of birds diving into the ocean in a frenzy. the kids get excited and we put out the fishing lines. you’re supposed to circle round the birds and there is a high chance of catching a big fish. i drive by once, and if we don’t catch, i tell the boys “ok, pull up the lines. we’re leaving.” they look at me like i’m crazy but i’m not. i don’t like fishing but i’ll give it one try, and one try only. haha. so we’re heading back in and i have a spot marked on my GPS that is 19 miles offshore. it’s a pinnacle where the water goes from 3000′ to 130′. i tell the boys to drop a lure and see what happens. Seth throws the line out on his first drop and BANG! a fish was on!
you have to see how excited the boys are when they catch a fish. they are more excited than winning a big surf contest. look at their faces!!! haha.
this is how excited you get when you’re fishing with your best buddies. these kids will remember this day for the rest of their lives…
Seth with the prized Uku. WCT rookie of the year or catching this fish? i think Seth was happier catching this fish. haha…
