Day 5 of 2022. i wouldn’t even attempt to teach somebody how to foil unless they have the surfing mechanics perfected. so after 14 days of Boot Camp, Daisuke-san was ready. today was the day his life will change forever…
when i see someone foiling for the first time, i know exactly what they’re feeling. it’s mixed emotions of nervousness and fear. but if you let those emotions get into your head, you won’t succeed. so the main focus today was to “stay calm.”
if you foil for the first time, i will be more than happy to capture your first flight. i don’t care if you’re standing or not, the sensation of flying is mind blowing.
and when you feel that sensation of flying like a bird, it’s very addicting. you can’t hide your happiness…
i was really impressed with Daisuke-san’s first day on the foil. he was calm and cool. and he will look back at this photo for the rest of his life. i know that because i still look over and over at my first flight.
i rode so close that his foil almost chopped off my head a few times. when i saw the footage, i thought i shouldn’t do that anymore. but happy to get this beautiful shot from behind…
a newborn foiler! welcome to the beautiful world of flying Daisuke-san! i’m super proud of your success today. let’s keep on flying!!!
