Day 13 of 2022: i thought the waves were going to be knee high this morning but i was wrong! i like being wrong sometimes because this was a treat! perfect waves and only one guy there when we showed up. it felt like another Indonesia boat trip!
teaching someone how to foil is a mental game. not only for the rider, but for me too. foiling is so hard and frustrating in the beginning so trying to figure out the best way to teach and learn is challenging. but when things finally come together, it’s a reward. Daisuke-san is just a few days away from total success.
Daisuke-san came to Hawaii a long boarder and will leave a short boarder and foiler. one of my most improved students of all time.
today was the perfect day for foiling because the surface was really smooth. it felt like a knife cutting through soft butter…
i remember watching this big Hawaiian start off foiling. just like us all, Kona was super frustrated too. but now, he’s over the frustrating part and loving life…
omg, i was looking at the water and it was so clean. then when i got home this evening, i got a text i’ve been waiting for the a long time: “uncle, dive tomorrow?” my reply was “100% YES!”
so i went to update my dive gear and while i was at the most amazing fishing store, i bought a good fishing pole and reel. i thought i’d try my luck at fishing too. we’re going super far off the island tomorrow so i hope to come back with some fresh sashimi!
