welcome to winter season in hawaii. yesterday was the first North wind day and boy was it cold!!! rainy, cloudy, dark, and cold. i ended up staying in my house all day and all night. didn’t even step out my door. still cold today but this is just the start. if your coming from japan, i’ll give you a few winter tips.
1. bring a long sleeve shirt.
2. bring a jacket.
3. bring a wetsuit. a 2mm long sleeve top is best.
i know it’s not as cold as japan, but it’s pretty cold for hawaii. i love this weather! good surfing and good diving days are coming soon!
as for the surf on the north shore, one word “Terrible.” i think the south shore is better. haha.
last years first good swell came on november 15th. this year, it’s looking like it’s going to be really late. 15′ perfect pipe won’t happen this month, maybe in mid december. but if you forgot what pipeline looks like, check out this video i shot. i still remember that day. big, crazy, dangerous, and lots of people. i’m going to do my best this year to make it out to the first big day of 2011 at pipeline! see you out there!
