my camera broke today. i took it in the water and it didn’t work. hoping it’s a dead battery but not sure. anyway, the waves were good and we had fun so that’s all that matters. when we got out, i saw this weird aircraft coming our way.
wow, it’s one of those Osprey helicopters! the only time i seen these before was on the news when it crashed. there have been 13 accidents resulting in 51 deaths. so yes, i hid behind my car.
i saw my longtime buddy in the water at Bowls. this is Kaipo Jaquias from Kauai. we use to travel and stay together during the ASP contests in Japan back in the early 1990’s. along with Derek and Michael Ho, Vatea Poto David, and Sunny Garcia. those were some of the happiest times of my life because we would surf, eat, and go Roppongi. haha.
i can’t believe how young and wild we use to be. thankfully there were no cameras or social media back then. that would have been bad. haha. anyway, we use to call each other “hey coconut!” so when i saw Kaipo out at Bowls the other day, i yelled “hey coconut!” and he knew it was me. good times forever…
