10 years ago, my Japanese millionaire friend asked me, “what would you do if you had ichi oku yen right now?” ichi oku is 100,000,000 yen. i told him “i would use it all that yen to buy US dollars and keep it.” my answer was based on my observations of watching the yen/dollar exchange rate since 1990. i saw it go up and down and i had a feeling that it was at the strongest peak at 79.6 yen/dollar. i would have gotten $1,265,000 from the bank. now 10 years later, that same ichi oku yen would have grown to 190,000,000 yen. omg, i would have made 90,000,000 yen or $600,000 US dollars! that would have been the best investment ever. so yes, i still think about the “what if.” haha.
