Hotel Asia

back in 2000, we where chasing a Super Typhoon so i flew to Okinawa.  i ended up staying there for 30 days.  we all stayed at the same hotel but one night, our hotel was overbooked so they asked only me to move for the night.  it was in the middle of a Typhoon so i remember being dropped off in the pouring rain at this hotel called “Asia Hotel.”  right when i walked into the dark lobby, i had a weird feeling.  i got my key, went to my room, and within minutes, the lights started flashing, i heard weird noises, and i felt the spirits of ghosts.  up until then, i never experienced anything like that before, and i never even believed in ghosts.  i totally freaked out!  i grabbed my suitcase, ran down the stairs, threw my key on the front desk, and  left.  back then there weren’t cel phones so i couldn’t call anyone. so i walked in the pouring rain, 100mph winds, soaking wet i arrived at the previous hotel we where staying at.  i went to the front desk and the receptionist said “omg, are you ok?”  i told her “no, i’m not ok.  i’m staying here even though i have to sleep on the lobby floor.”  they girl said “ok, i’ll put a futon in the stock room and you can sleep in there for the night.  thank goodness.  when i told my Okinawan friends the next morning what happened, they all laughed at me.  it seems like i wasn’t the only one who saw a ghost at that hotel.  ever since then, i believe in ghosts.

thank you Nakahodo-san for sending me this photo of what Asia Hotel looks like now.  i still get the chills thinking about that feeling i had that night…
