We got up early this morning and went to check the waves. Unfortunately the wind was super strong and the waves were junky. Fortunately we brought our snorkeling gear because you don’t feel any wind underwater.
A very peaceful snorkel in Waikiki and look what we found! Well, this is only one persons treasure. Multiply that by 3 and we had a treasure chest full of shells!
Then we showered, got warm, and started our people watching tour. Waikiki beach was basically closed today so it was interesting to see who would come out.
The windiest day of the year by far. In Japan, this is like typhoon standards.
Jellyfish, strong wind, rain, and cold. Not a great day to be a tourist.
Down towards Diamond Head, we stopped and watched a surf lesson.
That didn’t look too fun.
Then we went to look at Bowls. Nobody was out but this inexperienced tourist surfer tried to paddle out. We watched as the current took him way down to the channel. We kept an eye on him just in case he drowned. I told my student to be ready to save him.
He barely made it back to shore. No lifeguards at Bowls so if you want to challenge yourself, you better be fit and understand the ocean a little more. Today was the kind of day for experts only.
