When I was a little kid, I use to live across the street from Kahala Mall. Ever since then, I use to go into the See’s Candies store almost everyday to get a free sample of chocolate. We didn’t have money so I would put on my sad face and hope for a free sample. It only worked for the first few times and never after. By the way, this See’s Candies store was the first one in Hawaii and has been here since 1970. A very historic store.
My favorite chocolate was the Rocky Road. It was so expensive so they never gave samples of that. Not even a little kids sad face worked. The Rocky Road is located in the corner on the top shelf. Can you believe it’s been there since 1975? All these years, it’s never changed spots. I use to even look through that side window dreaming of the day I can afford it.
Now that I’m an adult, I go there once a year to buy myself some Rocky Road. It’s not that I like chocolate, it’s the fact of being able to afford it. It brings back all those memories dreaming of the day I can afford a piece. Perhaps a taste of success? Haha.
I went to look at this house for sale that’s been on my bucket list for 20 years. It’s located near my house and sits right on the peaceful stream. Yes, at my age, I still dream. This might be my next Rocky Road experience?
There are a couple hidden gems here in Hawaii and this is one of them. If I lived here, I wouldn’t want to leave.
