Learn and not Complain

108

It’s been a while since I drove to downtown.  I couldn’t believe how many homeless people there were living on the streets.  Not too surprising as the prices in Hawaii keep on going up and up.

There are families living here.  Sad to see kids coming in and out of the tents.  Wondering if things will ever get better.

Been helping my friend with some renovations.  We stripped down the bathroom and soon it will look a lot better.  First is upgrading the electrical.

Than some paint.  Feels pretty good to make things look better.

Taiji is one of the most magical places in Japan.  Lots of good food, beautiful beaches, and deep culture.

For centuries, a lot has happened right here in this crystal water.  Normal cultural activities to some, protests to others.  So every time I visit this bay, I get disappointed at some of my fellow Americans.  The same Americans who go to Japan and make judgement on cultural practices.  I wish people traveled just to learn.  Listen to both sides, make up your decision, and if it’s negative, keep it within yourself.  And if you don’t like what you saw, you don’t have to go back.  No visitor has a right to go to another country and disrupt their culture.  Travel to learn, not to complain…
