good evening. big huge waves on the north shore. heard only a few spots decent so i hung out in town and took care of business. like going to see my eye doctor. my eyes been bothering me and one of the reasons is that my eyelashes are growing in my eyes. he was plucking them out one by one and watching it through the microscope was freaking scary. and my hair was getting in my eyes too so i went to the barber shop to cut it super short. now i look like i’m going to join the army. big talk is the 3′ sets rolling into town. but as usual, when we get a south swell, the winds are wrong. so after glassy morning conditions, it got bumpy and onshore. i took a break out of the water and got so many things done today. surfing is my life but i still have other things to take care of so surfing can still be my life. get it? i do… have a great weekend and hope to see you at kelia’s birthday party tonight…
the other night, we went down to the international marketplace in waikiki. there was a stage in the middle with some live steel drum music going on. it was hayato’s mom!! yeah, hayato’s mom is the worlds first japanese steel drum player. i didn’t know that. together greg and junko macdonald have won 7 hawaii music awards. awesome… their music is soothing, relaxing, and at the same time, energizing. there was a pretty big crowd and everybody was enjoying themselves. including myself….
i bet it must be pretty hard to play these kind of drums. you have to hit it in the right spot. and where that spot is, i have no idea…. bit listening to two professionals really soothed my mind….
i wanted to thank junko-san for giving me their new CD called “Sweet Dreaming Vol. II” this one’s going into my ipod today…. oh, this CD has been nominated this year for the hawaii music awards. support and vote @ www.hawaiimusicawards.com…. tomorrow is the last day!! mahalo….
