So happy to see the water cleaned out. Being that we live on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it doesn’t take long. Surf, foil, or dive: that’s my life. Two days ago I surfed, yesterday I foiled, so today was a good day to dive with these perfect conditions!
Went out to my normal spot looking for tako. It’s the beginning of tako season so there were a lot. I saw 5 in under an hour. 
The deeper you go to get tako out of the hole, the faster you have to do it. The crazy thing is you don’t actually know how big the tako is until you see the legs coming out of the hole. The thicker they are, the bigger it is. 
This one was a little too small so I let it go. I followed it to see what it was going to do. This is how I learn more about their behavior. 
If you don’t chase it, it will stop, grab onto the reef, and look at you. If you don’t approach it, you can have a staring contest from a distance. But once you get too close, it will swim away and hide in the next hole it finds. 
I found 5 but just took one home for dinner. The cool thing is I can go back out to the same exact spot and they will still be there. I’m going to wait until they get bigger. 
The biggest pod of dolphins swam right up to the boat. There were a hundred of them swimming so peacefully. Came in, washed up, and going to start preparing this tako for dinner!
