Round 1: Started off the morning on this beautiful Saturday. Very low tide, sailboat still on the beach, and waves better than expected.
Hashimoto-san starting off early with his 6’4. From the very first wave, it was working loose and fast.
It’s so rewarding to see surfers getting better each day. We’re doing Boot Camp so I’m watching closely from front and behind. Always making adjustments which is making their surfing look and feel much better.
Sometimes I get too close but I couldn’t help this time because this wave was perfect! I’m yelling in Hashimoto-san’s ear “keep calm! hit the lip! look forward!!!” Haha.
Mighty Mouse is learning about crowds, locals, visitors, good surfers, and bad surfers. You won’t see more of a mixed bag of surfers out at Bowls on any given day.
When you have good wave knowledge, you will find really good waves like this. And when you have the right surfboard, you will get it!
Round 2: Noda-san’s first time in Hawaii and first time surfing. We had a photo session and all I saw today was a smiling and happy girl!
She stood up on her first wave and every wave after. She paddled on her own and had so much energy!
This is how you’re supposed to enjoy surfing. Keep calm and keep smiling.
