Food from the Sea and Water from the Heavens…

We had the most fantastic days on the boat.  Searching for new places, exploring different reefs, diving the deep blue, and going with the flow.  From my boat breaking right when we arrived, trying to find a solution, no help around for miles, and kept on hunting for food.  Then the rough night with heavy rain, rough waters, and a nightmare trying to sleep.

Because I was with the boys, I wasn’t worried about being stranded for days or months if we were stuck.  We could survive off the ocean, and we could drink the freshest water straight from the waterfalls.  We talked about that and it actually sounded pretty fun.  Benji Brand and Joshua Moniz are some of the best watermen in the world.  Not to mention, the can surf pretty good too.  Haha.

As we were stuck floating around in the ocean, we saw a fin coming straight for the boat.  Then where were two.  Sharks?

Not sharks.  It was a pod of the friendliest dolphins I’d ever encounter.   They swam around and right next to the boat for over an hour.  One of the longest dolphin sessions ever.

My new gun is so fast!  It’s so exciting to pull the trigger on it.

For a broken boat with stranded divers, we still hunted.  Normally I would have instantly turned around and tried to get back to Oahu as fast as possible.  But with the crew I had, that wasn’t even a thought.  What we all learned on this trip is that anything can happen at anytime.  Even though your boat is well maintained, it can still break.  And when you’re in a secluded place 6 hours away from Oahu, you have to figure out how to survive.  I’m actually glad that it happened because this trip was the best learning experience for them.  It could someday save their own lives…
