Respect to Japanese Winter Surfers

10

Round 1:  Another beautiful morning here in Hawaii.  The temperature is getting a little cooler and the water is getting a little cooler too.  But it’s still paradise!

I’ll be using my all 2mm wetsuit more often from now.  It keeps me so warm!  We did a session of Boot Camp and my student from Japan is getting better and better.  She’s camera shy so I won’t post any photos of her.

Round 2:  Perfect weather in the afternoon.  Not too many people in the ocean and nice little waves.  An all 1mm wetsuit is perfect for this!

I told my student over and over never to look at me when I’m riding on the side taking photos.  And of course she looked.  Haha.

Almost another surfboard nose in my face.  Everybody please stop looking at me!

Japan was super cold and so was the water.  When it rained, it was even colder than cold.  BUT, if you’re a Japanese surfer, you surf no matter what.  Surfing in a full wetsuit in the cold weather is hard core.  And riding a bike to and from the beach?  OMG, I respect these types of surfers so much.  I tried this type of surfing twice in Japan and I thought I was going to die twice.  Lots of respect for all you Japanese winter surfers!
